Ultra Violet 2018 Leading Color
Indonesian rainbow village Kampung Pelangi
In fact, color can affect not only the fate of a single person, but also the whole village. An amazing story, in particular, happened in the usual Indonesian village of Wonosari, whose inhabitants once chose life in color. Traditionally, any Indonesian village looks like this – houses of dirty white or gray color with equally brown roofs. However, after the houses in the village were repainted in bright colors, they had to rename the village itself. That is, Kampung Wonosari became Kampung Pelangi, which literally means “Rainbow Village”. Indeed, all 232 houses changed their colors – into bright red, blue, yellow, green, pink, and orange. The village became iridescent!
In addition, bright drawings and patterns adorn most of the rainbow houses. Meanwhile, the transformation of the village became possible thanks to the government’s program to attract tourists. And of course, thanks to $ 22,000 spent on repainting. And apparently, it really worked!
By the way, thanks to the color, the village in a moment became one of the most attractive places for the Instagram users. Undoubtedly, color matters, and the inhabitants of the rainbow village know this not by hearsay.
The International Green Cucumber Festival in Suzdal
Nobody knows when cucumbers first appeared in Russia. It is known that in the region of Vladimir it was grown 5 – 7 centuries ago, in other words, a long enough time ago that we may consider the cucumber inherently Russian!
Meanwhile, Suzdal is one of the most renowned centers of cucumber production. Since time immemorial the residents of Suzdal have had a special passion for cucumbers. Anania Fedorov, a Suzdal priest, has been practicing the art of cucumber-cultivation for centuries, nursing cucumbers like babies and even giving them different names: “pikuli” for smaller ones, “zelentsy” for middle-sized cucumbers and “oklyovishy” for flawed ones.
You may be asking yourself, “Why all the fuss?’ Wrong. As one of the characters in an Ostrovsky play asked “And what is a business? What is it in comparison to eternity and a pickled cucumber?”
Red Hill festival – Traditional Russian Krasnaya Gorka
As soon as the melting snow freed the land, it opened the small hills, popularly called red hills, and this gave the name to the popular folk holiday. Besides, in Russian, “Red” means beautiful. An old Russian proverb said: “Whoever marries on Krasnaya Gorka, he will never divorce.” A holiday of spring and love, time of walks and acquaintances, and of course, weddings. On the Red Hill festival it was customary to dress up in the most beautiful outfits and clothes.
The Red Hill is on the first Sunday after Easter. Also known as Anti-Easter, Antipascha Week, Fomina Week, Week of Thomas, and Thomas Sunday, it is a Christian holiday, celebrated in the historic churches next week (Sunday) after Easter.
Popularly considered a girlish holiday, the main place occupied girls, and (less often) women. In many places, for the holiday of the Red Hill, as the first spring holiday, an ancient ceremony of “hailing the spring” took place. On this day, all the village girls and young women, taking with them all sorts of foodstuffs, usually gathered in some favorite place of the village street and sang spring songs. Besides, they conducted dances and arranged various games primarily burners and dances.
Color hearing and the inseparable connection of music and color
To color the rainbow is simple: just take the right color and draw. The main thing is to remember the sequence. Is it possible to color music sounds and, if so, what and how? What is a musical paint? What colors can correspond to this or that sound?
First of all, the musical paint is not an individual sound, but a whole sequence of sounds, in simple terms – gamma. It forms a mode, major or minor, and tonality. Even the very word “tonality” comes from the word “tone”. In music it is sound, and in painting – color.
One of the musicians who dreamed of establishing such a “sound-color” connection was the composer Alexander Nikolaevich Scriabin. He had a color-toned hearing, that is, he perceived tonalities in a certain color. In particular, C major in red, G major in orange and pink, D major in yellow, A major in green, E major and B major both in blue-whitish color, F-sharp major-bright blue, C-sharp major – violet, A-flat major – purple-violet, E-flat major and B flat major – both steel with metallic luster, and F-major – dark red.
Menton France Colorful Lemon Festival
Traditionally, the riot of yellow color is Lemon Festival which lasts from late January through mid-February. Meanwhile, since the 1930s the town of Menton, France, has celebrated it annually. About 300,000 people visit the town during the festival. In particular, they enjoy the colorful parades featuring larger than life-sized figurines made entirely of citrus fruit, a specialty of the region. Besides, no less interesting are other activities. For example, performances of local folk music and dance take place during the festival. In addition, visitors may stroll by scenes from famous stories reconstructed out of citrus fruits and displayed in one of the city’s parks. Noteworthy, the Lemon Festival coincides with another important local event, the Orchid Festival. And those who attend this exhibit of orchid specimens may also sample regional foods and view the work of local artists.
Choosing the tablecloth color
Undoubtedly, nothing refreshes the interior so much as a beautiful new tablecloth. A new colorful tablecloth – and the room will play with new colors. Whether it is a gentle lace tablecloth on the table or the original colorful, checkered in the style of Provence or white in a minimalist style – it’s up to you. Many try to buy a tablecloth in the tone of the rest of the textiles (curtains, upholstery of furniture, lampshade), but not less interesting is the color antagonist.
Traditionally, tablecloths in Russia have always been referred to as “clean” linen, and therefore washed and rinsed them in the first place. And the passers-by welcomed the woman busy with washing the tablecloth, very beautifully: “God help you, swans to you!” That is, the tablecloth should be clean and white, like swans.
Meanwhile, today we use tablecloths of various colors. But the knowledge on preferable color can be very useful for you.
